Funny Bunny and Chicken Bob

So I think Kyra has chosen her first "security" item. She got a big fuzzy bunny holding a baby chick from Uncle Chris for Easter while we were in Wisconsin and when you squeeze the bunny's foot it says, "Somebunny loves you! cheep cheep cheep cheep". (Those are baby chicken noises, it's not a penny pinching rabbit.) She thinks the bunny is VERY funny and giggles when we squeeze it's foot and make it kiss her during the little chicken noises. We cut the threads holding the bunny and the chicken together, because the chick is the only stuffed animal Kyra has that's the right size for her to hold and it doesn't have any plastic features that she could swallow so it's a good one for her to play with. She REALLY likes it because it's soft to rub on her face and it's wings are JUST the right size for her to hold easily so now she goes to sleep holding the chicken with one hand which is great because then when she does get upset she just hits herself/me with the fuzzy chicken instead of scratching. We named them Funny Bunny and Chicken Bob because we just did.

MOMS Group

Well we FINALLY made it to the monthly MOMS group at church today!! The first one after Kyra was born, she'd had a REALLY awful night right before and it was Phil's first day back to work. Then last month, she got sick the night before and we went to the Dr. instead but we made it today! It was a lot of fun! All the other ladies at my table just happened to also be from the MidWest and the speaker topic was "Raising Mission Minded Children" which was really good and is something that's a big deal to me. Kyra did fine in the nursery (for over 2 hours!) until the very end when it was just "social" time.
Phil was home during the day today too as he worked a grave last night because they were doing a reset and needed some extra help so they asked if he'd come in. He slept for part of the morning, and then he, Kyra and both dogs were back in the bedroom sleeping by around 6:30p.m. :) It was so quiet with just me and the cat out here!!

Singing in the Rain

Well, not actually singing... just walking. :) With Tristan, Amy & Hazel out at the dog park! Then we had dinner with them (John and Amy... not Tristan and Hazel) at Claim Jumper. Kyra was mostly good, and was, of course, admired by all. She got REALLY fussy at the end though and wouldn't take a bottle for Amy because she was being a snot. (Kyra, not Amy.)

Growing So Fast!!!

Today we went to church where Kyra was awake for a good share of service and good for all of it, and then this afternoon our young couple's bible study at Russ and Myrna's house started back up. Kyra was a little fussy on and off there but did okay as long as Mama didn't try to sit down!
Last night we tried out the webcam with Grandma Susan and Grandpa Roger and it worked pretty good! Kyra was pretty fussy though.

Migraine

Well.. Mama has a migraine... the worst in a LONG time. That's what I get for talking in Wisconsin about how I haven't really been getting them anymore and they haven't been so bad. Poor Kyra is mostly just laying around with Mama.

Slow News Day

Not much going on today. Kyra was GREAT though and took a long nap in her swing this a.m. so I could get some housework done. She also slept all night in her pack-n-play bassinet next to our bed (she woke up to eat twice but went right back down!) PTL for good solid sleep!!

No More Needles!!

This morning Kyra had her 2 month checkup. She now weighs 11lbs 2 1/2oz and is 23 1/2 inches long. She is right about in the middle on both weight and length. She's a little ahead of average on most of the developmental markers and the doctor thinks her umbilical hernia is going to heal up all on it's own. She was SUCH a good brave girl! First of all, it took a while waiting to get in for her appointment (they usually run late, but are so good and never rush you, I don't really mind). Then, after her exam, she had to have THREE SHOTS for her immunizations. One was a Polio, TTP, Hep B combo shot, one was her MMR and I can't even remember what the other one was! She only cried during the actual injections and for about a minute after. They did at least do the first two together with two ladies doing it to get it over with. She has been a little fussy on and off today though and she's got a big blue crayon band-aid on one thigh and a flag band-aid on the other.
After her appt., we met Auntie Amy and Hazel at the dog park with Echo and Radar and did the loop before we met Phil for lunch at the Subway. We did our grocery shopping today too since she mostly just wanted to hang out in the carrier anyway, and therefore I couldn't do a whole lot that didn't involve holding the baby. She did sit in her BebePod chair for a little while and played with her toy. We also experimented with some 3-6 months clothes today. The onesie fit great, except for being a little baggy around the middle, but the pants were a little too long and MUCH too baggy at the waist. Guess it's going to be mostly dresses for a while!

Home Sweet Home!!

Well, today we're busy enjoying Phil's last day of vacation before he has to go back to work. I think Kyra must know he has to go back tomorrow because she's taking advantage of all the Dad cuddles she can get. We went out to the dog park this morning for a walk with Amy and their new puppy, Hazel.

We're slowly getting unpacked and getting stuff sorted out and back to normal. I'll be catching up with the days we were gone on vacation 2 or 3 days at a time, so by next week this time, all our vacation days should be caught up! :)

Leaving on a Jetplane!!

This morning Amy and Tristan picked us up early to give us a ride to the airport to fly out for Wisconsin. Poor Tristan was still in sort of a "morning mood" and was feeling a little possessive. Amy was holding Kyra while I was throwing the last stuff in the diaper bag and first he asked her to put Kyra down on the couch, then he said "MY MOMMY!" and finally, he asked to go get in the car. :) His mood improved drastically when we got in the car and Amy was no longer holding the baby. Kyra was thrilled to be facing him in the car and stared at him the whole time!
I love my BabyHawk carrier! Don't know how we would have managed flying without it. They even let me wear her through security so she was mellow as could be the whole time! No messing with her that way. :) Kyra was VERY good in the airport and on both planes. The first plane had Woody the Woodduck on the tail and the second one had a Greywolf whose name I've forgotten. We did have an unexpected 5 hour delay at the Denver airport, so I'm surprised that Kyra was SO good! I actually like being stuck at the airport with an infant more than when we've been delayed without one, at least we had something to do!
When we got to Miluakee, Grandma Susan and Grandpa Roger were appropriately impressed with how cute she is. :) She got a little fussy in the seat on the way home as it was just a bit too big but otherwise she slept most of the way!

Crazy Packing Day

This morning Kyra was swinging in her swing with her knitted blankie and when her mobile stopped, Dad caught her pulling her blankie up over her face, then pulling it down and shouting "GAH!" at her butterflies. She did it three times in a row and he thinks she's probably trying to scare them into moving. Today, besides trying to finish up our packing so that we're not naked in Wisconsin, we went to Amy & John's to drop off the keys so she could check on Denali and while we were there Amy's mom got there to drop off Tristan and she thought Kyra was pretty cute. We also dropped off Echo at his "resort" and dropped Radar off at Grandma's. (Also, the grandmas needed to say goodbye to Kyra before she left for Wisconsin tomorrow.)

Class Reunion

Today was the class reunion for our birth class. 6 of the babies and their parents made it, 2 boys and 4 girls. Kyra was definitely the loudest as she got pretty fussy when we got there, settled down while we ate, and then got fussy again right before we left. She wasn't the only baby that didn't bring her carseat which was cool. The reunion was at the Hawthorne Fishhouse where they serve genuine midwest style fish frys because the owners are from Green Bay. All the babies were very cute. It was sort of frightening hearing about the 2 month checkups and all the shots at them though, so now Kyra and I don't want to go to her 2 month appointment.

Tisavors!!!

Sorry there's been a deficit in posts lately, I had them all typed and saved but hadn't put the pictures on my computer from the camera yet. Finally just decided to post all the posts and go back to put in the pictures once I got them up! Kyra helped me work on finishing up the packing for Wisconsin today. She took a nap on the clothes in her suitcase while I folded up the clothes to put in ours. :) Tonight, we had dinner with our friends, Susan and her mom Sue who were up in Portland to do some shopping and to visit with Kyra! Kyra was (mostly) appropriately cute and entertaining for them. She showed off several of her best tricks and didn't get TOO fussy until the end of the evening when she was getting worn out, at which time she promptly fell asleep on Sue's shoulder.

Follow-Up Visit

Kyra had her recheck at the doctor. today. It was actually with her doctor this time instead of just whoever was available. I really like her doctor, but I really DON'T like the assistant girl that does the vitals for her. I know she's fairly new though, so hopefully she'll improve. She didn't know the difference between acetaminophen and guaifenesin (when I told her Kyra was taking amoxicillin and acetaminophen she asked if the acetaminophen was Mucinex.) She also just seems to have no idea how to relate to babies at all. Anyway, back to the doctor. She said Kyra's lungs are sounding pretty good and that it's a good sign that she's moving air well enough that she can sleep while sucking on the bink. She had us do sort of a fever "challenge" test today by letting the Tylenol wear off completely to see if Kyra's temp went up, and it didn't, so it looks like unless she suddenly gets quite a bit worse, she should be fine to go to Wisconsin Tuesday. YAY!!

Thursday...

Well.. today we ran errands, and otherwise mostly just kept trying to get better. Not much to report. Kyra is getting to be such a little character! She smiles a lot more in response to things now, especially at us when she's in a good mood and we're entertaining! She is starting to "talk" a lot more now too, although, it's not so much cooing as "gah"ing.
