Kyra's First Christmas

Christmas morning, Kyra got up just after six!!! Someone must have told her you're supposed to get up early on Christmas for presents but it sure wasn't me or her Dad! After she had some breakfast, we settled down and let her "open" her presents from us with some help to remind her to TEAR the paper, not EAT the paper. I was surprised how good she did for her age actually! She got some jammies, a book and a hokey pokey Elmo and in her stocking were some bath toys (ketchup & mustard squirt bottles and measuring cups & spoons), a tiny stuffed Zoey monster like the Elmo she opened the other day and a toothbrush. She opened her book and immediately took it over to Dad, waving it around for him to read to her! She did ok for the first few pages but was just too excited to really settle down and read so after about half the book we moved on to other stuff.

When she got to the Hokey Pokey Elmo, she was sort of bored after taking off the paper and just finding a plain brown box, but boy, as soon as I got the tape split and she got a peek in between the flaps that changed fast! I'm pretty sure she thinks it's the REAL Elmo that came out of that box! She got very excited and leaned right in to pull him out. While she was having a bottle after opening presents she laid down on her dog in her Super Yard and just stared out watching her Elmo.

After she was done opening presents, she had a nap and a bath. She tried out the new bath toys and thougth they were pretty great and just right for playing with in her ducky tub. After her bath, I did the best job of weighing and measuring her that it's possible to do at home with a very wiggly 11 month old who doesn't really want to be weighed and measured!!! The best I can tell, she's about 17 lbs and 27 inches.

Phil's mom and step-dad came and picked us up in their Hummer as the roads here were still way to icky to get our car out and took us to a family friend's for a Christmas party during the afternoon. Kyra LOVED the ride in the Hummer, even if she had to ride in her old carseat that she's not fond of. She had fun at Tricia's and was actually a VERY good girl considering that she couldn't get down and play! She loved watching all the people and ate lots of turkey, stuffing and rolls off my plate (and drank lots of my water.) Grandma and Grandpa had brought her some presents and after we got home that evening, we let her open them in an attempt to keep her awake until it was closer to bedtime!! (It was only around 6:30 when we got home.) She got some cute rubber duckies and squirty fish for bath time, some cute clothes in the next size up and some Christmas themed Weebles. She sat right down on the floor and played with her Weebles, ducks and fish for around half an hour, not in her Super Yard or anything, just sitting and playing! It was amazing! When she did finally get to bed, she was out very fast, the poor thing was just exhausted. She had a very fun first Christmas!

Sitting With "Daddy" Claus

Since we plan on letting the girls know right away that Santa is just fun to pretend, we don't have to worry about them knowing that Santa isn't real! One very nice thing about that is that instead of lugging Kyra to the mall to sit on a stranger's lap who she probably would yell at anyway (or pull his beard knowing her), Phil just put on his Santa suit and she sat on his lap for pictures! She knew immediately that it was her Dad, even though he changed in the other room and then came out to "surprise" her and was not at all upset (in fact, she barely even seemed to notice other than trying a couple times to get ahold of that beard!) She did definitely decide that she was not going to kiss him with all that fuzzy, curly stuff on his face.
She also got to open her very first Christmas present while she was sitting in his lap to help keep her occupied long enough for Mama to get a bunch of pictures. (Technically, her first Christmas present was the wagon that Gramma Susan and Papa got her when they were here, but she didn't actually OPEN that one.) She had lots of fun opening it, even if we didn't let her eat the paper and was quite impressed with the Elmo inside. The next time she was on the floor crawling around, about five minutes later, she made a beeline for the first present she saw. It sure didn't take her long to get that figured out! Luckily I wrapped all hers in the same paper, so hopefully she'll be able to tell which ones are NOT for her too.

11 Months!

Hard to believe it, but Kyra is only a month away from being a year old!!! We had our last monthly birthday party for her on Friday before bed. She still didn't get any cake, but she did at least get some animal crackers! She's growing and changing all the time! Today, she took two unsupported steps while Phil was watching. Of course, she wouldn't do it again for Mama to see, but she's getting there! Really, if she was more confident, she'd probably be walking already since she has the strength and the balance, just doesn't trust herself to try it unless she's too distracted to realize what she's doing!

Snow Baby!

Sunday was sort of a lazy day at our house since we got up to go to church and ended up staying home all day due to the weather. Kyra was pretty fascinated watching the snow fall outside the window so after her nap we bundled her up in the 12 Month snowsuit she got as a gift from a friend in Wisconsin and took her out just long enough for her to get a better look.

Playing in the snow wasn't much of an option since there wasn't really a spot to get to and since she couldn't really move once she was in her snowsuit, but she sure had fun with Dad looking!

Little Sister is GROWING!!

Well, to begin with, that second front tooth popped through yesterday afternoon after I posted yesterdays blog, so it does certainly look like we're going to have two front teeth for Christmas here!
Phil's work Christmas party was last night and it was for grown-ups only so we left Kyra with Chip and Angi for the evening (they claim she behaved herself) and got to go out with just us! It was fun and dinner was yummy, although I think I should have eaten more ahead of time because by the time dinner was served I was really hungry! I forget sometimes how much of what I eat a tiny little growing person as little sister sucks up! We're 23 weeks along today and I'm already sick of baggy maternity clothes so I decided to dress up last night. Kyra and I went "junking" at Salvation Army and found an empire waisted stretch green velvet dress and a sweater that closed with just a hook and eye at the top. Although neither was maternity, I think it worked and am just really hoping that it conveyed more of a "pregnant" vibe than a "chubby and my dress is too small" vibe.
Kyra was exhausted when we got home and finally got her in bed (after 10!) and barely made a peep all night. She even slept in until nine this morning and would have slept later if I hadn't gotten her up! We can't let her throw her schedule off completely. :) She was in a good mood all morning and is napping now. It took her 45 minutes of chatting with her teddy bear to decide to go to sleep for nap, so she can't be TOO tired after last night!

Two Front Teeth for Christmas

Yesterday, Kyra's 3rd tooth poked through! It's the right upper one of the front two and the one beside it looks like it's going to come through VERY soon so it's looking like baby girl is going to have her two front teeth in for Christmas!
She has another new word already and a couple of new "tricks". She says "go, go, go!!!" when we're going out to get in the car. She waves bye bye too. She won't SAY bye though, just wave. She will grab a specific toy when asked now as long as she knows what you're asking her for, especially if it's the monkey she swiped from G-Gma Pat. She also will give kisses to her stuffed animals (and sometimes her parents) when asked. So cute! :)

Dad's not Bubba Anymore!!!

Kyra has finally, officially said a word clearly enough (and knows what it means) to call it her first word. I was really hoping for "Dad for her 1st, or at least Mama, but no, on Friday, she said "DOG". "Dad" on Saturday and now that she's got a couple down, she's decided to start working on "Baby", "Bye Bye", "Hi" and "Yeah". I'm worried that now that she's starting to talk, she may never stop! Her favorites are definitely Dad and dog though. Now if we could just convince her that not everything with four legs is a dog!

Today, she got to stay with us in service at church instead of going to the nursery because it was the kids Christmas program! It was great and she was so good! We sat up in the balcony so she'd be less of a disturbance and she actually watched most of the program and even "sang" along with the kids for a lot of the songs! Her favorite part was at the end when a man was doing a snare drum solo on stage and she was just fascinated. Considering her obsession with percussion instruments and her rapidly developing sense of rythym I'm thinking I may need to invest in some earplugs before our darling girl is old enough to think about joining the school band!

Thanksgiving!!!

Kyra's first Thanksgiving was pretty laid back (which was great for me!) Since it was Phil's nephew's birthday and his parents didn't know if they'd have plans or not and since we didn't know he was going to be able to be off work all day until the weekend before, we planned a quiet Thanksgiving at home with just the three of us. It was wonderful, although, I strongly reccomend against planning on cooking an entire Thanksgiving dinner with a 10 month old and while 4+ months pregnant! This was the first time I've made the whole dinner by myself but since it was for just us there was no pressure and it was really pretty fun! There are a few little changes I'd make for next time (especially now that I know more what I could have ready the night ahead of time to speed things along) but all in all I think it turned out pretty good for a first try. Phil was great with keeping Kyra entertained and out from underfoot and for the most part she was in a pretty decent mood! She really enjoyed her dinner, even if all that variety at one meal gave her a bit of a belly-ache the next day. Phil took some pictures and videos of her EATING her first Thanksgiving dinner but she wasn't feeling very cooperative so it wasn't until he put the camera down that she started all the grinning and going "NUM NUM NUM!" while she ate! It was really a wonderful Thanksgiving, especially this year when we have so much to be thankful for with Kyra healthy, happy and growing to share it with and another little girl on the way who so far seems to be just as hale and hearty as her big sis!

So here's our dinner, served of course on my Fireking and Lusterware because there isn't a more appropriate time of year than Thanksgiving for shiny orange dishes.

Kyra's dinner included roast sweet potatoes, baked acorn squash, turkey, jellied cranberry sauce (yes out of a can... I figured she'd choke on whole berry sauce and jellied cranberry sauce homeade is something only Martha Stewart does), mashed potatoes with broth substituted for the butter and milk, stuffing and a very few bites of pumpkin mousse. And no, she did NOT eat this whole plate full of food, even though it is just a saucer. :) Her favorites were mostly the things she could pick up and feed herself, as usual but she did decide that the mousse was pretty good, even if she did have to eat it off the spoon!

"Nine" Months Pictures!!!

First of all, we got the pictures back from Kyra's dedication at church in August so if you go look at my August 3rd post, I put them up there. :)

On Monday, Amy was nice enough to do more pictures of Kyra and they turned out just beautifully! They were supposed to be her 9 months pictures... but Mama is running a month behind. Kyra was her normal, non-cooperative, stubborn self so there's not a single one where she's just sitting and smiling, but that's just our girl! I love that her personality comes through so strong because the reason I treasure her pictures is because she's growing so fast and we'll have them to remember this stage! If she always had the perfect JCPenny style posed portraits, sure, they'd be cute, but it wouldn't look like KYRA!! I think my favorites are the ones where she's beating on the wicker stool like a tom tom drum. :) Some were in her Christmas dress and some were in her tutu and some were just plain naked! (She of course liked the naked ones the best because our little one is sort of a nudist.) Neither modesty nor humility are her strong suits. After we got home when I was looking at all the pictures on the computer she was sitting in my lap and insisted that we look at them over and over!! I'll put the link to her pictures on Amy's site up and also add a few here that aren't up there.

10 Months Already!!!

So Kyra was officially ten months old on wednesday. It's amazing how much she's changed in the past month! She's gone from pretty much doing just rice crackers and thick baby food to eating 75% of her food herself! (For example, tonight for dinner she had chicken nuggets, peas, carrots & cheerios!) She's crawling now and getting faster every day. She gives very food fives when she feels like it and has officially learned what "no" means. Tonight she actually ASKED me for a kiss for the first time instead of me asking her for one (Phil saw it too so it wasn't just wishful thinking). Now if we could just convince her to give kisses with her mouth CLOSED we'd be doing good! She's also getting very good at sitting with us to read. We get books out of the library which works out great. Free books, lots of variety and when she fixates on one it's no big deal because eventually it's due to go back! We put holds on a bunch that have dog in the title and one of them is called "My Dog, My Cat, My Mama and Me". It turns out it's about the dog, the cat and the mama all getting pregnant and having 2 puppies, 3 kittens and 4 baby brothers. Kyra just LOVES that book and wants to read it over and over and look under all the "peek" flaps at the puppies, kittens and babies. It's very simple and now I have it memorized. Boy will I be glad when that one goes back and I no longer have to read about Mama getting fatter and fatter!

She's Doing It!!!

So Kyra is FINALLY crawling well enough to call it crawling! She's still a little splay kneed and she sort of collapses every few feet when she's tired, but she's sure getting there, especially if Mama or Dad is on the floor for her to crawl to. She's not exactly a little speed demon yet (she's actually still faster in her army crawl) but I'm sure she will be soon. Thank goodness for super yards! She's so cute sleeping in her crib now too. She usually doesn't fuss for more than a minute or so when she's put down and then she either goes right to sleep or plays with her bear or her feet first. You can always tell when she's been playing before she went to sleep because she ends up way in the corner of her crib with her butt up in the air because she was up on all fours and just sort of passed out. :)

Slept ALL night!!! (And baby's first Halloween)

Friday was Halloween and we were all invited over to John, Amy & Tristan's house for a party that was LOTS of fun!! Kyra dressed as a bumble bee. (We were very glad we'd gotten her two costumes on clearance last year since she'd outgrown the banana!) She loved watching the kids at the party and thought trick-or-treating (she just went along to watch) in her wagon was a blast until she got a little hungry and tired. She was a very cute little bee!
She's been sleeping really well most night lately since she's over her cold. (She does have a little bit of an occasional cough still hanging on, but other than that she's doing good.) She's been waking up just once around 5:30/6:00a.m. to eat and then sleeping until 8:00. Last night she actually slept through until 7:30a.m. with NO waking up! It was great!

Still Not Crawling!!

Well, still no crawling but it sure doesn't seem to slow her down any! She's pulling up and sitting back down like a pro and her favorite position seems to be sitting on her knees. She pulls up in her play yard and creeps along the wall to wherever she wants to be. We still have to make sure she has shoes on or keep a very close eye on her in there or she climbs the wall! She has a big peek-a-blocks activity block in there with toys and she's figuring out how to make it play music and is always SO pleased with herself when she does!
She's doing finger foods now. She eats lots of rice puffies (puffed rice cereal) and still likes her rice rusk crackers. She can do banana, pear and peach pieces but not very well yet as they tend to get away from her. She had some little bites of my french fries the other day too and thought that was pretty yummy. She's working on lots of food with more texture. She eats oatmeal with fork mashed fruit in it most mornings for breakfast instead of pureed fruit and likes cottage cheese but we're still working on adjusting to the texture of the egg yolks. She's already for Thanksgiving as she LOVES sweet potatoes, cranberries and mashed potatoes (made with yogurt instead of milk.)
She's had a nasty cold for the last couple days and has been coughing, sniffling and not sleeping well at all. She finally seems to be doing a little bit better today. She's coughing a little less but still has a very runny nose. We've been putting a kid's mentholated vapor plug-in in her room at night and that seems to help her breathe a little better.
Since we're not going to get her to the pumpkin patch this year we took pictures of her at home with a baby pumpkin (which she's going to be eating this week) and a fake pumpkin that we had here. She thought that was LOTS of fun, other than the picture part. She wanted to get down and creep around on the floor instead!

Sleep is a Wonderful Thing!!!

So last night Kyra actually slept last night from just after nine when we got home from church and got her settled until 5a.m. this morning STRAIGHT THROUGH!!! When she did wake up, it only took me 20 minutes to put her back to sleep and she slept until almost 9 this morning. It was great! Now if I could just convince my brain that I'm allowed to sleep for more than 2 - 3 hours at a time, it would all be great!

Up & Down!

Kyra is now not only pulling herself up but she's finally learning how to get back DOWN once she's up! She's very adept at pulling up on the crib, playpen, superyard or Dad's leg and is finally getting to the point where she doesn't just stand there and scream until someone saves her or she falls over. She figured this out the other day when she was holding onto the superyard and dropped the toy she had and had to figure out how to lean over and pick it up. She also has to wear shoes now when she's in the superyard because otherwise she can get her little toes in the grate of the walls and tries to climb!

After a long absence...

I'm back! Finally. For anyone who didn't already know, I was in the hospital for over a week and have been sort of trying to get back into the swing of things since I got home sunday. As for what's new with Kyra, well, I missed over a week so I'll have to just pass on second hand info mostly. Her newest things are that she has BOTH of her bottom, middle teeth. Also, she's afraid of people yawing. She bursts into tears anytime she sees someone yawn. We don't know why exactly... She also is now 95% formula fed for the time being as I couldn't nurse her in the hospital and was too sick to pump, but hopefully we'll be able to get back to nursing at least part time. She does NOT sleep well as a formula fed baby and is waking up 4-6 times a night and taking 45 minutes to an hour to get back to sleep each time. ICK!!!

8 Months!

Kyra is officially 8 months old today!!! She is still working on the tooth without much progress. In honor of her "birthday" we had cheesecake (well, her dad and I did) and she got turkey with vegetables! Hopefully getting a little extra protein in her belly will help her sleep better tonight than she did before last night! She didn't finally settle down to sleeping until about midnight I think and then she was up again once and only slept until nine this morning, which meant she missed most of her first nap today and really couldn't do without it! She wasn't too cranky though, all things considered. Poor little thing, hopefully we'll all get some better rest tonight!

Thursday, September 18, 2008

A TOOTH!!!

Kyra officially is getting her first tooth! The left, lower front tooth is working on coming through finally. You can't really see it, although when she screams, you can see the little hole in her gums. And if you run your finger over the spot you can feel the little rough edges! Now I just wonder how long it will take her to get it in all the way?

All Wore Out!

We went to the zoo today with Kyra's Grandma, Papa, Auntie, Uncle and Cousin who are in town from Wisconsin. She had a wonderful time! She was a good girl pretty much the whole time we were there. She really liked the sea lions, otters and leopard this time. Oh, and of course the warty pigs, which are always her favorite! It was much easier to get her to notice the animals this time since she's starting to figure out to look where we point instead of just looking at our hand. She was very upset though when she saw the piggies in the gift shop and Phil wouldn't let her grab one because she was just sure that was HER piggie sitting there!

Swimming!!!

So Kyra's Grandma, Papa, uncle, aunt and cousin are visiting from Wisconsin this week! Yesterday she saw them for a little while here before going down for her nap and then showed off a bunch of her tricks when we took dinner over to their hotel. Today, we all took the MAX downtown to Saturday Market and Kyra had LOTS of fun. She saw some dogs, a parrot and lots of interesting people. She played peek-a-boo around her mei tai with Papa on the train for a long time. Then this evening we went for dinner at the thai restaurant and she chewed on some of my broccoli spears while every one ate before going back to the hotel where she had her dinner and then she swam in the big pool! She had lots of fun and she finally figured out how to splash. She loved it when Papa or Dad would duck under the water and then pop back up. It was like peek-a-boo, only better!

Red Robin

Today was our fourth anniversary and Phil had a thing for his "birthday burger" from Red Robin so we went there this evening for dinner. Kyra did so good! She played in Phil's lap with her toys (and his menu) while we were waiting for the food and then she sat in her highchair with almost no fussing while we all ate! She does a lot better now that she gets to eat too. :) She had a whole jar of sweet potatoes, some ice cubes and some of my water. Then we went to the park to play with Tristan! We were GOING to go bowling but we forgot that there are usually leagues on thursday. She had fun at the park though! She liked the swing with me and Dad took her down the slide!

Veggies

So we've found a GREAT new way to entertain Kyra, especially when we're eating. She loves chewing on big chunks of veggies! She may not have any teeth to actually eat them yet, but she loves having the same thing that we have. Today she and Phil had zucchini slices for a snack and then she chewed on some green beans at dinner tonight while we ate. I think when those teeth finally do start coming in she's going to have LOTS of fun with finger foods!

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Pull-Ups

So our daughter who as of yet can't crawl or get herself into a sitting position unassisted can officially pull herself up to standing in the crib all on her own!!! Needless to say she won't be back in her crib until Phil can help me drop the mattress down a level. She sure gave me a scare though when I went in to check on her!

Friday, August 29, 2008

Family Dinner

So we finally got brave enough to try feeding Kyra her dinner WHILE we were eating our instead of before or after and it actually worked out really well! We pulled the chair with her high chair right up to the table between us and fed her a little at a time as we were eating. In between bites she worked on her tippy cup and she got more water on her than in her but since she was content and we were both getting to eat with two free hands we didn't really mind.

Where's Dad?

Today, around 3 o'clock Kyra started asking for Phil and looking for him. I don't know if that was when she noticed that he hadn't come home for lunch, or if she was just thinking it was getting close to time for him to be off. He's been getting off at 4 a lot of days because they've been having him come in early but today he worked until five. She fell asleep about twenty minutes before he got home so she didn't even get to see him right away, but she sure had lots of fun playing peek-a-boo with him after dinner!

Growth Spurt?

So most of Kyra's food is home processed, but I messed up on the sweet potatoes and couldn't get them to puree smooth so until I get a chance to do another batch next week, she's having jarred sweet potatoes once in a while. (She gets jarred stuff and apple sauce in the little individual cups when we're out and about anyway because that's just easier.) Last night she had sweet potatoes for dinner because she hadn't had any for a week or so and then again tonight because we were at Grandmas and that was the convenient jar. Both nights she ate an entire four ounce jar of stage 2 sweet potatoes! Last night she also ate about 2 ounces of applesauce and then tonight she ate a little applesauce (maybe an ounce) and several bites of my watermelon. Goodness that girl has been hungry lately! She also had fun in Grandma and Grandpa's garden "helping" pick green beans and zuchinni. Grandpa B. gave her a zuchinni to see and she tried to grab it and take a bite!

"Bubba" Dad

So recently Kyra seems to have forgotten how to make D's. She says D's quite a bit but when she tries to make a D on purpose they often come out like B's. She's also getting a little creative with her A's so recently she's started calling Phil "Bubudubud" instead of "Dadadadad". We're working on getting the D's back since Phil doesn't really feel like being Bubba or Dubba forever.

Peas'n'Apples

Kyra helped me with laundry again today. (She loves when I let her help sort the socks because she gets to sit by the pile of as yet unpaired ones and wave them around!) She was a good girl today, and played in her baby jail for a while and ate a big dinner for dad with no complaining other than once in a while that he wasn't getting the food in fast enough to suit her! I think if I'd let her have peas and applesauce at every meal, she'd eat great all the time! (No, not mixed together. :) )

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Baby Jail

Well Kyra had a WONDERFUL time in the nursery today and played, laughed and showed off her tricks. After that we grabbed some lunch and then headed to Wal-Mart to pick up our site-to-store stuff that had gotten there! YAY! It was Kyra's swimsuit (size 3, won't be getting into that one for a while) and her new SUPERYARD!!! After we got home we set it up on a blanket for her and she decided that it is a LOT of fun to play in... as long as Dad is playing with her. :) She actually does like it a lot as long as she's in the mood to be playing on the floor and she'll play in it by herself happily for a little while at least. I'm just so glad it got here before she's really crawling, crawling, she already moves so fast with just rolling and creeping!!!

Saturday, August 23, 2008

FEED ME!!!

So I think Kyra must be having a growth spurt. Besides eating her normal breakfast of fruit and having a rice rusk at lunch time which is a newly added meal for her, she at two whole cubes of peas plus rice and an entire cube of applesauce for dinner! Usually we consider getting two cubes in a really great meal. (A cube is an ice cube, so about an ounce or half a jar of stage one baby food in the little size jars.) She also nursed like crazy today and she's been trying to get away with sleeping until nine in the morning, which I'm trying to discourage since she's also been wanting to get up at nine in the evening and play until eleven. I think our girl is growing again!!!

Friday, August 22, 2008

COOKIES!!!

Ok, so not really cookies, but we finally found an alternative to teething biscuits that don't have any wheat in them. Kyra get a rice rusk every day now and she's thinking they're pretty exciting! She even got a good share of the first one in her instead of on her, so I was sort of surprised. She is still getting over her cold and isn't sleeping the best as a result, which of course means that Phil and I are both exhausted. I am surprised though at how well she's doing with taking her medicine. She usually opens right up and swallows it even though you can tell she doesn't like it. Such a sweet girl.

Pet Store

Today, we stopped at Wal-Mart to do some shopping and then went to Pet Smart to get dog food for Echo. I don't think Kyra has ever been in the pet store when she was actually awake before. She thought it was great! She loved looking at the dogs walking around in there. We watched the gerbils for a long time and she giggled! She liked the hampsters and guinea pig too, but they were less entertaining for her since they were mostly asleep this afternoon. She liked the parakeets, finches and the canary and she got VERY, VERY excited when I took her over to where they have the adoptable cats. She especially liked one big grey and black tabby tom that was sleeping half on his belly up on the shelf in his enclosure area. He kept opening one eye to look at her and then he would roll part way on to his back and she would just burst out laughing every time he did that.

One Inch at a Time!!

Kyra's newest thing is creeping. Well, sort of. She can move herself in whatever general direction she chooses, given that there's something there she wants badly enough! She ends up falling on her face/tummy a lot and spends a lot of time up on all fours rocking forward and backward like she's warming up before she takes big lunges (most of which end up with her flying forward a few inches onto her nose) but she is sure getting closer to being able to crawl! It's probably a good thing she does most of her practicing on the bed so far. Today she finally seems to be figuring out that she needs to move her hands too, not just her knees. :)

7 Months!!!

Kyra is officially 7 months old today! Her big birthday excitement was that she got to try banana for the first time. Her dad and I ate her cupcakes after lighting sparkly candles on them for her but she didn't think that was very interesting. She is creeping now, but still not crawling. I'm not complaining though, she's a handful to keep up with already and I'm so hoping that she puts off crawling for another few days until her superyard gets here! She also still doesn't have any teeth, another thing I'm not about to complain about. :) She is definitely teething though! She also has another little cold right now so we're babying her a bit but once she's over it we're going to start putting her in her crib in her room at bedtime too instead of just for naps.

Dedication Day

Our church had Baby Dedication Weekend this weekend and we dedicated Kyra at the early Sunday service today. She was VERY good up on stage (in fact all three babies that were dedicated at her service were!) The verse we chose for her was from the story of Hannah and Sameul where Hannah is talking to Eli about how she is the woman who was there and so upset the year before but here she is and God has answered her prayers for a child, and that she will dedicate him to the Lord. The pastor did have some trouble remembering how to pronounce her name though. :) He kept calling her "Kai Ruh" instead of "Key Ruh". Poor T.J. didn't get it right once without being corrected. It was so funny, by the third time he said it wrong the whole congregation laughed!! Kyra did NOT want to sit through the rest of service though so she and I spent a good share of it out in the foyer. After church we went to Heidi's with Phil's mom, Curt, John, Amy and Tristan who were all there for Kyra's dedication today. It was fun!
