Leaving on a Jetplane!!

This morning Amy and Tristan picked us up early to give us a ride to the airport to fly out for Wisconsin. Poor Tristan was still in sort of a "morning mood" and was feeling a little possessive. Amy was holding Kyra while I was throwing the last stuff in the diaper bag and first he asked her to put Kyra down on the couch, then he said "MY MOMMY!" and finally, he asked to go get in the car. :) His mood improved drastically when we got in the car and Amy was no longer holding the baby. Kyra was thrilled to be facing him in the car and stared at him the whole time!
I love my BabyHawk carrier! Don't know how we would have managed flying without it. They even let me wear her through security so she was mellow as could be the whole time! No messing with her that way. :) Kyra was VERY good in the airport and on both planes. The first plane had Woody the Woodduck on the tail and the second one had a Greywolf whose name I've forgotten. We did have an unexpected 5 hour delay at the Denver airport, so I'm surprised that Kyra was SO good! I actually like being stuck at the airport with an infant more than when we've been delayed without one, at least we had something to do!
When we got to Miluakee, Grandma Susan and Grandpa Roger were appropriately impressed with how cute she is. :) She got a little fussy in the seat on the way home as it was just a bit too big but otherwise she slept most of the way!

Crazy Packing Day

This morning Kyra was swinging in her swing with her knitted blankie and when her mobile stopped, Dad caught her pulling her blankie up over her face, then pulling it down and shouting "GAH!" at her butterflies. She did it three times in a row and he thinks she's probably trying to scare them into moving. Today, besides trying to finish up our packing so that we're not naked in Wisconsin, we went to Amy & John's to drop off the keys so she could check on Denali and while we were there Amy's mom got there to drop off Tristan and she thought Kyra was pretty cute. We also dropped off Echo at his "resort" and dropped Radar off at Grandma's. (Also, the grandmas needed to say goodbye to Kyra before she left for Wisconsin tomorrow.)

Class Reunion

Today was the class reunion for our birth class. 6 of the babies and their parents made it, 2 boys and 4 girls. Kyra was definitely the loudest as she got pretty fussy when we got there, settled down while we ate, and then got fussy again right before we left. She wasn't the only baby that didn't bring her carseat which was cool. The reunion was at the Hawthorne Fishhouse where they serve genuine midwest style fish frys because the owners are from Green Bay. All the babies were very cute. It was sort of frightening hearing about the 2 month checkups and all the shots at them though, so now Kyra and I don't want to go to her 2 month appointment.

Tisavors!!!

Sorry there's been a deficit in posts lately, I had them all typed and saved but hadn't put the pictures on my computer from the camera yet. Finally just decided to post all the posts and go back to put in the pictures once I got them up! Kyra helped me work on finishing up the packing for Wisconsin today. She took a nap on the clothes in her suitcase while I folded up the clothes to put in ours. :) Tonight, we had dinner with our friends, Susan and her mom Sue who were up in Portland to do some shopping and to visit with Kyra! Kyra was (mostly) appropriately cute and entertaining for them. She showed off several of her best tricks and didn't get TOO fussy until the end of the evening when she was getting worn out, at which time she promptly fell asleep on Sue's shoulder.

Follow-Up Visit

Kyra had her recheck at the doctor. today. It was actually with her doctor this time instead of just whoever was available. I really like her doctor, but I really DON'T like the assistant girl that does the vitals for her. I know she's fairly new though, so hopefully she'll improve. She didn't know the difference between acetaminophen and guaifenesin (when I told her Kyra was taking amoxicillin and acetaminophen she asked if the acetaminophen was Mucinex.) She also just seems to have no idea how to relate to babies at all. Anyway, back to the doctor. She said Kyra's lungs are sounding pretty good and that it's a good sign that she's moving air well enough that she can sleep while sucking on the bink. She had us do sort of a fever "challenge" test today by letting the Tylenol wear off completely to see if Kyra's temp went up, and it didn't, so it looks like unless she suddenly gets quite a bit worse, she should be fine to go to Wisconsin Tuesday. YAY!!

Thursday...

Well.. today we ran errands, and otherwise mostly just kept trying to get better. Not much to report. Kyra is getting to be such a little character! She smiles a lot more in response to things now, especially at us when she's in a good mood and we're entertaining! She is starting to "talk" a lot more now too, although, it's not so much cooing as "gah"ing.

More Dr.'s

Well, today Kyra and I went back to the dr., but it was my dr. this time instead of hers as my 6 week check was today. (She was glad that this time the dr. just fussed over her instead of poking her all over.) Everything looked good and now we just need to decide whether we want to do the surgery for my salpingectomy right away in June or wait until I'm done breastfeeding. Poor Kyra is still sick. She slept good last night at least, 6 hours and 4 1/2 hours, so hopefully that's a sign that the tylenol is at least keeping her a little more comfortable. Her cough sounds so awful coming out of such a little bitty girl. She REALLY doesn't like it when I put the saline drops in her nose and suck her out with the aspirator, but it does seem to help her breathe better and so far we've been able to keep her nose clear so eating isn't too rough on her.

Cough Cough...

So my poor baby girl is sick!! Yesterday evening we noticed that she had a little bit of a dry cough every once in a while, but I thought at first that she'd just gagged on some milk and was trying to clear her throat. Over the course of the night though, the cough got worse and worse, she started sounding REALLY congested when she was breathing and was really restless. When I woke up congested this morning, that pretty much confirmed that we were both getting a cold. I called the dr's office this morning and took her in. The dr. said she's got some chest congestion and put her on infant tylenol to keep her comfortable and an anti-biotic to be on the safe side. Also, she does have an umbilical hernia which we already thought she did but were waiting for her next check-up after we get back to find out for sure. She has an appointment for a re-check on friday to see how the cold is going and for her regular dr. to look at her tummy. On a better note, she weighs 10lbs 4oz now and is 22 and 3/4 inches long, so she's growing!!

Easter Portraits!!

Well, Kyra slept a little better last night but still not great. This morning we went to Aunt Amy's house, (their NEW house!) and she took Easter portraits for us! (Amy is a FABULOUS photographer if you're looking for one in the Portland area, check out her site!) Kyra was sleepy through a good share of the shoot, but Amy got some REALLY cute shots of her! No naked baby shots though, Kyra was NOT happy with the idea of hanging out in just her diaper. :) Amy was able to do what I've been TRYING to do for weeks now and get a picture of her big pouty lip! Tristan (Amy's son & our godson) was there too and he got in on some of the pictures. He's such a sweetie!! The edited portraits are up on her company website Full of Grace Photography under recent sessions.

Rough Night!!

We had a tough night last night. Kyra was up for four hours straight fussing and crying for most of that time! So today, Phil and I are pretty tired. We did manage to get lots of laundry done though so I can get more packing done this week. Since we did Saturday night church again, we stayed home all day. Between daylight savings and Kyra's problems sleeping, I'm really glad we were able to do that!

Pulling Our Hair Out!!

Ok, not really. Actually we're having a pretty good day for the most part. :) Kyra slept pretty good last night (mostly in our bed, but still pretty good, especially compared to thursday night.)
She was happy and smiley this morning when we got up and we played with her link-a-doos and her dolly for a while. We made plans to meet Phil for lunch, so I put her down while I went to go get her clothes out and she got pretty fussy. When I got back in the room, she was just screaming bloody murder. She's still at that stage where when she's upset she'll grab onto anything she can get her fingers around and squeeze, be it her fingers, my fingers, dad's eyebrow, whatever. Somehow, she'd managed to grab a BIG handful of her hair and was pulling it, which only made her more upset, which only made her squeeze harder! I felt bad for laughing, but it was so cute, I had to snap a picture before I settled her down (which took a few minutes) so she'd let go. So we've definitely found a low point to being born with a headfull of hair.

100 Dresses

For those of you who don't know, Kyra's Great-Grandma Pat (Phil's grandma) had a stroke a couple of years ago and is still recovering. She still has a little trouble with getting her words to come out in the order that she wants them to, tires quickly and needs some support to get around smoothly so she's been sort of resistant to getting out. Well, she decided the other day after seeing the sweet little dress that Phil's sister Jeane sent there for Kyra, that she wanted to go pick out and buy a dress for her. Phil's mom and aunt had recently gotten a wheelchair for her, so they took her to Kohl's shopping. Great-Grandma loved all the baby dresses but they finally decided three dresses and a sweater was enough since she's growing so fast that she wouldn't have the chance to wear ALL of them. :) Then this morning, she sent Aunt Jackie back to the store to get one more dress and a pair of blue jeans that she wished she'd gotten. We went over tonight to visit and the little clothes for Kyra were all hung up along the top edge of GGma Pat's entertainment center in a row. Kyra promptly thanked GGma Pat by crying whenever she tried to hold, but Phil and I sure thought they were all adorable!!
In other news, we had a rough night last night. Kyra was fussy and upset and had lots of trouble settling back down, even after moving out to the couch poor girl. She slept in this morning and was pretty mellow all afternoon so I think she wore herself out.

Butterfly Baby

Kyra wanted to play and talk all day today!! This morning when I was trying to get her to take a nap, Denali came in to visit and she got all excited! She even managed to grab his tail at one point, but not very hard since his tail is still bigger than her hand. He just thought she was petting him but after that she was so worked up, there was no napping to be had. She did sit in the swing for a while though, until she decided that the swing was only fun if I was standing in front of it admiring her and telling her how smart she was for watching the butterflies. :)

Packing!!

Kyra and I spent the morning working on laundry and getting started on the packing. Since I have this feeling she's going to hit the line between 0-3 months clothes and 3-6 months clothes about halfway through the 2 week trip, we're taking a weeks worth of the smaller size and a weeks worth of the bigger and I figure we can mix, match and wash as needed. She tried out her highchair on the floor in her room while I was going through her 3-6 clothes to pick out some warm ones and she liked it for a while but then decided it was really time for some food and some snuggles. :) She was a little fussy when we got to church last night, but settled right down for me and then stayed in the nursery well while we were at class. She's always good for them but she is getting to where she is glad to see us after we come to pick her up though and it's such a nice feeling when she looks up at you relieved and snuggles up! She was even good getting strapped in her seat and all through shopping at Wal-Mart, but she sort of lost it about 10 minutes after we got home, so the couple pics I got of her in her cute little dress are pretty vague as it was definitely time for P.J.'s and dinner. We've been doing a bottle right before bed every night to help her get used to the idea and to help her stay more awake to fill up her little tummy in hopes of getting her to sleep better. So far, she's still not really settling down until midnight. I'm sure the first couple days in Wisconsin when she thinks bedtime is 2a.m. won't be fun, but hopefully she'll adjust quickly. Even if she comes home thinking midnight in Wisconsin is bedtime, at least she'll be on a 10pm bedtime schedule here then!!
